The Lodge is strategically located on the banks of Lough Corrib - one of the most famous fisheries in all of Ireland.
Originally built as the home of Ashford Castle's Estate Manager, The Lodge has been welcoming hunting and fishing guests since 1865.
The lake is known for its wiled brown trout and salmon. Some of the best fishing in Ireland can be found on Lough Corrib during the Mayfly Hatch in May and June. The spring runs of Salmon sometimes enter the adjacent River Cong as early as February, while salmon fishing reaches its peak in June or early July.
Local Ghillie, Frank Costello, is internationally recognized as one of the most knowledgeable experts on fishing Lough Corrib having lived beside the lake all his life. He is an "Orvis" endorsed guide and will happily take individuals or groups up to 15 persons for fly fishing lessons.
